During the meeting, which also included Mr. Udo Weber, responsible for cooperation development at the embassy, Mr. Jurgen Hartwig, director of GIZ in Mongolia, and Mr. Bastian Fluri, coordinator of environmental projects, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of joint work.
The following issues were discussed:
- Stages II and III of the project aimed at biodiversity conservation and adaptation to climate change;
- Preparation for the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
Additionally, both parties noted the successful and long-term cooperation between Mongolia and Germany in the field of ecology, including the establishment of protected areas and the implementation of sustainable forest and natural resource management practices.
Mongolia also emphasized the need to integrate its climate policy with global standards and practices. GIZ representatives expressed their intention to continue deepening cooperation in environmental protection in Mongolia.
This meeting was an important step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation in ecology and climate, as well as facilitating the implementation of specific joint projects.
