In Vienna, Austria, Battsetseg Batmunkh, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, held a meeting with Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This information was published on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, reports the source.

During the conversation, Minister Battsetseg expressed her concerns about the state of the international nuclear non-proliferation regime. She noted that since 1992, when Mongolia declared its territory a nuclear-weapon-free zone, the country has consistently supported international efforts to strengthen peace and security.

Rafael Grossi, in turn, emphasized the significance of Mongolia's status as a nuclear-weapon-free state. He highly appreciated Mongolia's active participation in ensuring nuclear non-proliferation and physical security, adding that the ratification of the Convention on Nuclear Safety and the 2005 Amendments to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material is an important contribution to global nuclear security.

Since joining the IAEA in 1973, Mongolia has actively supported the Agency's work. During the meeting, the parties noted that more than 100 national projects have been implemented in various fields such as health, food, agriculture, ecology, mining, education, and science within the framework of the Technical Cooperation Program, which demonstrates mutually beneficial cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, IAEA representatives expressed their readiness to further develop cooperation with Mongolia in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The Mongolian delegation invited Director General Rafael Grossi to visit the country at a time convenient for him and expressed a desire to deepen bilateral relations.
