During this meeting, participants will analyze the implementation of the Convention at the country level, as well as discuss scientifically grounded policies and the creation of an International Strategic Framework Program that will operate after 2030.
Panama, which will host three scientific bodies for the review and implementation of the Rio Convention in 2025, has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. The country has expressed its readiness to contribute to solving global crises using integrated and coordinated approaches and aims to create a sustainable future for its people.
It was noted at the meeting that issues such as drought, desertification, and land degradation affect not only countries with dry climates but also small island states, which drew the attention of the international community during the opening session.
The national delegation of Mongolia will present information at the meeting regarding preparations for the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN CBD, which will take place in Ulaanbaatar from August 17 to 28, 2026. The delegation will also seek partners to strengthen cooperation ahead of the conference.
