Mongolia's Achievements in Social Development Highlighted at the Summit in Doha
During the summit, important aspects of addressing existing problems and reaffirming commitments outlined in the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and its Programme of Action were discussed. The document serves as a roadmap for achieving sustainable development goals by 2030.
The delegation of Mongolia, led by the advisor to the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Protection, Saran Gombojav, included participants of plenary sessions and key discussions. Topics of discussion included "Principles of Human Potential Development: Climate-Resilient and Inclusive Social Development" and "Leveraging Leadership in the Asia-Pacific Region to Promote Social Development." The delegation presented Mongolia's achievements and plans in the social sector.
Some of Mongolia's programs were highlighted as exemplary, including the community-based rehabilitation model (CBR) implemented under the National Program on the Rights, Participation, and Protection of Persons with Disabilities (2018-2022); the Child Money Program (CMP), which covered 98 percent of children regardless of their families' income; and the COVID-19 recovery initiative, which demonstrated significant resilience and adaptability in challenging conditions.
Additionally, Mongolia showcased effective collaboration with international development agencies, allowing it to position itself as a regional model of inclusive social development in the Asia-Pacific region.
The delegation confirmed that Mongolia is committed to expanding access to social protection and improving services for vulnerable groups, with a focus on healthcare and education.
More than 14,000 participants, including 170 heads of state and ministers from around 40 countries, attended the summit. The outcome was the adoption of the Doha Political Declaration, which represents an important step towards strengthening international cooperation in social development and accelerating progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
