Followers began to actively congratulate him in the comments on his release. Later, the Committee of the Penal System confirmed the information that he was released after serving his full sentence as determined by the court.
Recall that by the court's decision on June 23, 2023, Meirzhan Turebaev and Meirhan Sherniyazov were found guilty of organizing and managing a financial pyramid scheme. Each was sentenced to five years in prison.
It is worth noting that Sherniyazov was released on July 3, 2025, while Turebaev was supposed to serve his sentence until January 2026.
Previously, the court in Almaty clarified that the difference in release dates, despite the same sentence, is related to different starting dates and the accounting of time spent in custody.
The sentence for Sherniyazov began on April 19, 2022, with one day in custody before the trial counting as two days of imprisonment. Turebaev, on the other hand, began serving his sentence on February 1, 2024. He requested a replacement of the unserved days for a more lenient regime twice, but was denied both times.
