At the first session of the 15th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), it was officially announced that Kim Jong Un has been re-elected to the highest position in the country. The announcement stated that this decision was made unanimously and reflects the will of the entire Korean people. "The SPA solemnly declared the nomination of the outstanding leader of the Juche revolution, Comrade Kim Jong Un," it noted.
KCNA emphasizes the significance of the elected leader as "the greatest thinker-theoretician and strategist in state building," highlighting his role in the future of the North Korean people and in the "eternal dignity and power of the Republic." The people of the DPRK confidently look to the future, believing that "our model of socialism will be invincible, and the historical task of strengthening the state and armed forces will surely be achieved."
Kim Jong Un has been in charge of the DPRK since 2011 and has headed the State Affairs Council since 2016. In 2019, the country's constitution was amended, which enshrined his status as the head of state and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA). Previously, this status formally belonged to the Chairman of the Presidium of the SPA.
