
On December 24, the Main Directorate of Rocket Industry of North Korea conducted a test launch of new anti-aircraft missiles, as reported by the KCNA. Kim Jong Un, who observed the launch, called it successful.
The report states that "this is the first test aimed at assessing the tactical and technical characteristics of the new high-altitude and long-range anti-aircraft missile system. The launched missiles reached conditional aerial targets at a distance of 200 km."
According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, the missiles landed in the East Sea of Korea, which is also referred to as the Sea of Japan on the peninsula.
