For the first time, the Turkish drone Bayraktar Kızılelma successfully hit a supersonic aerial target using an "air-to-air" missile. This became known thanks to the press service of Baykar Defence.

During tests at a range near Sinop, a high-speed target aircraft with a jet engine was launched. It was detected and tracked by the ASELSAN MURAD AESA radar installed on the Kızılelma. After the target was accurately locked on, the drone launched a Gökdoğan missile from one of its wings, resulting in a hit on the target with the first shot.

It is worth noting that most modern unmanned fighter aircraft in the world are primarily developed for attacks on ground targets.

The company emphasized that the Kızılelma is the first unmanned platform to demonstrate the capability of executing "air-to-air" strikes, thus opening a new era in aviation history.

It was previously reported that in 2017, the American UAV MQ-9 Reaper also successfully hit a maneuvering target using an "air-to-air" missile during tests.
