A resident of Kara-Balta succumbed to persuasion and headed to the terminal in the “Globus” hypermarket.
According to information provided by the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Chui region, a group of individuals posing as employees of the National Bank and the mobile operator “Megacom” deceived a woman from Kara-Balta into transferring 3 million soms to a safe account.
S.Y., born in 1949, reported to the police on December 4. She stated that on December 2 and 3, she received calls from strangers who introduced themselves as representatives of “Megacom” and the National Bank. They convinced her that her money was at risk and advised her to transfer a large sum to a safe account at the terminal in the “Globus” hypermarket.
Following their instructions, the woman made the transfer and later decided to report the incident to law enforcement authorities.
Based on her statement, a criminal case was initiated under Article 209-1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As a result of operational measures, two suspects were identified and detained: J.M., born in 2001, and Sh.T., born in 2000. They obtained an “Optima” bank card and sold it through Telegram. The scammers used this card to steal money from the victim by providing outsiders access to their internet banking, which constitutes a criminal offense.
The investigation is ongoing.
