The door was opened by the daughter of the deceased — who also became a victim of the scammers
A tragedy occurred in the capital's Strogino district on March 13: a woman was murdered. Her body was found in an apartment on Stroginsky Boulevard the next day, as reported by the publication "Meduza".
The Investigative Committee of Moscow confirmed the fact of the murder, adding that a safe with signs of forced entry was discovered in the apartment. According to preliminary information, the daughter of the murdered woman opened the door to the criminal, who introduced himself as a law enforcement officer, and convinced her to let him in for "operational activities".
Later, it became known about the detention of the suspect — a 20-year-old native of Kislovodsk, born in 2005. He was detained in the area of the Nizhny Novgorod highway, and his name — Daniil Sekach — was already mentioned in Telegram channels.
On March 15, the Investigative Committee released a press release showing the detained individual with his hands cuffed behind his back. Although the last name was not specified, it is clear that it refers to Sekach. In the video, he claims that he received instructions from the scammers to break into the safe and eliminate the homeowner. According to information from the Investigative Committee, the scammers contacted him more than a month ago, posing as police officers, and forced him to participate in "operational actions," threatening him with criminal liability.
On the day of the murder, Sekach arrived at the apartment with a set of tools, including a grinder and a sledgehammer. At that moment, the 16-year-old daughter of the homeowner was in the apartment, who, as it turned out, also became a victim of the phone scammers. They convinced her to open the door for the "employee" of the security services. After Sekach entered, he began to open the safe and sent the girl to the entrance to meet her mother to inform her about the "work" in their home.
When the mother returned, she tried to stop the criminal. He demanded the code to the safe, after which he violently attacked her, inflicting at least two stab wounds. The woman died on the spot. After that, Sekach opened the safe, took more than two thousand dollars and other valuables, which he then threw out the window at the instruction of the scammers. He remained in the apartment, holding the homeowner's daughter hostage, and only the next day did the scammers allow him to release her and leave the house.
According to Telegram channels, the deceased was 48-year-old Ekaterina Chuchupalo. The publication "112" reports that her husband, geodesist Andrei Chuchupalo, was on a business trip in the Middle East. Ekaterina and Andrei have two daughters, the younger of whom became a victim of the scammers. According to Mash, Ekaterina previously worked at a real estate company, and "Baza" adds that she opened her own academy, where she taught working with neural networks and internet technologies, and also collected coins from the time of Catherine the Great.
TASS and RIA Novosti confirmed the detention of Daniil Sekach, who is a graduate of the "Lokomotiv" academy and a player for the Yekaterinburg team "Ural-2" (Second Division B), where he played as a central defender since January 2025. According to the Telegram channel "112," he is also studying at a Moscow university and told his teammates that he was going to the capital to "resolve issues with his studies."
The head coach of "Ural-2," Evgeny Averyanov, expressed shock at what happened, stating in an interview with "Match TV": "I hope this is a mistake. I can't believe that Daniil could do such a thing. He has always been a calm and kind person. The information in the media has no official confirmation and contradicts what I have seen in two months of working with him."
Sekach has been charged with murder (part 1 of article 105 of the Criminal Code). He admitted his guilt and expressed remorse, as confirmed by a video published by the Investigative Committee. The investigation plans to appeal to the court with a request for his arrest.
