A correspondent took a stroll through the capital's markets and found out how much it will cost to prepare a child for school today.
Prices for stationery have changed little compared to last year. However, due to discounts, clothing and shoes for children can be purchased relatively cheaply. This is related to an oversupply of goods in the market.
The government has established uniform requirements for school uniforms in the Kyrgyz Republic. According to sellers, the initial school dresses and suits were purchased with buyers from Kazakhstan and Russia in mind. However, because the customs barriers were lifted later than traders expected, they now need to get rid of seasonal goods.
Discounts also apply to the uniforms approved by the Ministry of Education and Science. Since the agency later allowed parents to choose what their child would wear, the demand for maroon blazers and gray trousers has significantly decreased.
