In Karakol, located in the Issyk-Kul region, on Alyshebaeva Street (formerly known as Lenin), there is a residential building that is over a hundred years old, the mayor's office reported to Turmush.

According to the information, the house is an object of historical and cultural heritage, dating back to the late 19th to early 20th century.

“The construction of this house likely began in the early 20th century, when Karakol was actively becoming the administrative, cultural, and military center of eastern Kyrgyzstan,” the mayor's office noted.

This building is a vivid example of the architecture of its time, showcasing characteristic features of planning, construction technology, and decorative elements.

The historical significance of the house lies in its role in shaping the architectural landscape of the city and preserving authentic structural and artistic details,” the statement added.

According to the memories of local residents, the house was originally owned by a person from the local intelligentsia—possibly a teacher or an official who was respected in society. It was built from quality wood with a brick foundation and adorned with carvings, which emphasized the high status and taste of the owner.
During the Soviet Union, the building was nationalized and used for administrative purposes, housing various local institutions such as the post office, a district hospital, an office, or a library.

“According to memories, in the 1950s-70s, several families of budget sector workers—teachers and medical professionals—lived in this house.

After 1991, the house changed its purpose again.

Currently, its premises accommodate private companies and commercial structures, including a wholesale base and a financial credit organization.

Although archival data on the first owners and the exact date of construction of the house are lacking, this building continues to be a significant part of the city's history. It reflects various eras and serves as a reminder of how Karakol has developed over the past century,” the mayor's office emphasized.
