The vice-mayor noted that problems with overcrowding are observed only during peak hours
At a meeting of the permanent commission of the Bishkek city council on municipal property, urban planning, and architecture, Vice Mayor Ramiz Aliyev stated that there are enough buses in the capital.
BGK deputy Kazybek Ergeshov raised the issue of the lack of public transport and reported frequent situations where buses are overcrowded and do not appear on routes often.
He suggested considering the possibility of launching private minibuses or small buses produced in Uzbekistan in residential areas where there is a shortage of public transport.
In response, Ramiz Aliyev noted that there is enough public transport in Bishkek. “Route taxis are already an outdated option. Our city has enough 12.5-meter buses. I admit that during peak hours, from 8 to 9 AM and from 7 to 8 PM, buses are indeed overcrowded. However, at other times of the day, they often run almost empty. In the narrow streets of residential areas, we really need to use 8-meter buses, and we are currently working on acquiring them. We hope to solve this problem in the first quarter of next year,” the official assured.
