The actor fought a long battle with cancer


Levon Oganesov, People's Artist of Russia, pianist, and composer, passed away after a prolonged struggle with cancer. This sad news was reported by RBC, citing his daughter Maria Shklover. The artist was 84 years old and passed away on December 13.

According to information posted on Oganesov's social media page, a farewell ceremony will be held on December 16 in New York, and the funeral will take place at Kensico Cemetery.

Levon (Leonty) Oganesov was born on December 25, 1940, in Moscow and developed a passion for music from an early age, starting at four years old. He studied at the Central Music School and later graduated from the Ippolitov-Ivanov Music College, where he repeatedly became a laureate of piano competitions.

When he turned 18, he replaced the ailing pianist Naum Walter at a concert in the Column Hall of the House of Unions, marking the beginning of his career on the concert stage. Oganesov accompanied such famous artists as Klavdiya Shulzhenko and Kapitolina Lazarenko, and also worked with Bolshoi Theatre soloist Pavel Lisitsian, Andrey Mironov, Valentina Tolkunova, and Larisa Golubkina. For many years, he collaborated with Joseph Kobzon.

Additionally, Oganesov co-hosted popular television shows, including "Club 'White Parrot'," "Hustle Around the Piano," "Life is Beautiful," and "Good Evening with Igor Ugolnikov." He also performed at the Satire Theatre in the play "Goodbye, Conductor!" and appeared in films such as Eldar Ryazanov's "The Key to the Bedroom" and Vladimir Potapov's "Dacha for Sale."
