According to witnesses of the accident, the incident happened on December 21 in the Chychkan gorge. The freight truck lost control on the slippery road, veered into the oncoming lane, and collided with the passenger car.

The accident took place on December 21 at around 01:30 at the 247th kilometer of the Bishkek–Osh road in the Chychkan gorge of the Toktogul district. The truck, a "Mercedes-Benz 711," was driven by a 62-year-old resident of the city of Manas and was heading towards Osh. As a result of losing control, it crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a "Toyota Sienna" driven by a 28-year-old resident of the Batken region, who was heading to Bishkek.
As a result of the incident, the driver and passenger of the passenger car were forced to seek medical assistance.
