Begimai Kankeldieva, the heroine of our "Our People Abroad" section, has been living in Sweden for five years with her husband and children.

She was born in 1991 in the Jalal-Abad region.

The Journey Begins from the Village

I am the youngest of six children in my family and got married 14 years ago in the Nooken district. We have three children: two sons and a daughter, and I am proud to be a beloved wife.

Five years ago, we moved to Sweden as a family. Our youngest daughter was born here. Initially, we aimed to provide our children with a European education and broaden their horizons, rather than focusing on making money or acquiring property—those thoughts came later.

Traveling Before Moving to Sweden

Before moving to Sweden, we lived in various countries, including Spain, Germany, and Russia. I also managed to visit Riga. In the future, we dream of traveling all over Europe. At the moment, I am on maternity leave but continue to work online in the SMM field, collaborating with well-known personalities from Kyrgyzstan. Recently, we purchased an apartment in the center of Stockholm, where we live legally.

Comparing Life in Sweden and Kyrgyzstan

The difference between Sweden and Kyrgyzstan is colossal. Here I feel free and do not worry about the opinions of others—no one judges or interferes in personal life. Sweden has taught me patience and precision.

The legislation here is strict, and corruption has no place. Migrants are not singled out as a separate group; on the contrary, excellent conditions have been created for them. Swedes are very polite and modest. Although most of them are not Muslims, their life values are close to Islamic ones. People wake up early and try not to go out late. The official languages are Swedish and English.

Swedes have an interesting tradition of gathering for coffee meetings. In our culture, we tend to gather over pilaf.

I was surprised that the locals are not very talkative, and it can sometimes be difficult to find common ground. They are quite reserved and do not rush to open up.

Husband and Children's Successes in Sports

My husband recently received a promotion and became a foreman in the construction sector. Our children are actively involved in sports—wrestling and jiu-jitsu—and often take prize places.

Future Plans and Returning to Kyrgyzstan

We intend to return to Kyrgyzstan to open a business that will be beneficial to society. We do not plan to open cafes or stores—there are already enough of those in the country. We lack places where one can spend time productively.

In Sweden, there are libraries and free kindergartens for mothers on maternity leave everywhere, where you can come with your child and have a good time. Free children's parks and swimming pools are also available. We dream of implementing similar initiatives in Kyrgyzstan.
