In the "Our People Abroad" section, we will tell the story of Gülzhamal Kadyrkulova.

The woman from Kyrgyzstan shared her story, explaining that the necessity to move to Russia was dictated by harsh living conditions, which forced her to seek work far from home for the sake of her family.

In her account, she highlights the difficulties she faced in the first days after her arrival, including bureaucratic issues with documents, the language barrier, and a deep longing for her children.

G. Kadyrkulova was born in 1970 in Talas and lived in the At-Bashinsky district of the Naryn region. However, facing challenges, she was forced to leave for work in Novy Urengoy, located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of Russia.

Correspondent: What prompted you to leave your homeland and go to Russia?

Gülzhamal: The living conditions were extremely difficult, and there was a catastrophic lack of resources. To provide for my family, I made the decision to go to Russia, as I had the opportunity to travel to Novy Urengoy through acquaintances.

Correspondent: How were your first days after arriving in Russia?

Gülzhamal: To be honest, it was not easy. Problems with document processing, job searching, and the language barrier created many difficulties. But I tried to overcome them with patience.

Correspondent: What types of work did you do?

Gülzhamal: I engaged in various types of activities. Initially, I cleaned apartments and stores, later I worked as a dishwasher in a Korean restaurant, and then again in that same role, but in a Georgian restaurant.

Correspondent: What are the main challenges faced by labor migrants in Russia?

Gülzhamal: The biggest difficulty lies in obtaining documents. It has become very difficult to do this now. The number of inspections has increased, and if the documents are not processed correctly, there is a risk of deportation.

Correspondent: How are Kyrgyz people doing in Russia?

Gülzhamal: Many Kyrgyz people work in Russia; they try to support each other. However, many face difficulties due to language barriers.

Correspondent: How has migration affected your personal life?

Gülzhamal: Thanks to migration, I was able to support my family, but it is very hard to be so far from my children.

Correspondent: When did you return to Kyrgyzstan?

Gülzhamal: I returned to Kyrgyzstan in November 2024. After a month of rest, in January 2025, I went back to Russia for work.

Correspondent: What recommendations can you give to those planning to go to work in Russia?

Gülzhamal: First of all, make sure to properly process all documents. It is also important to follow the laws and help each other.
