The BELES project is not closing, but requires modernization — the founder dispelled the rumors
Recently, there has been a lot of misunderstanding and emotional interpretations in social and informational circles regarding the BELES project and its obligations related to the state and the president. Urmat Dyusheev, one of the founders of the company who owns half of the shares, decided to clarify the situation.
“At the initial stage, we planned to launch the assembly and production of buses on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. However, during the work process, experts and relevant authorities pointed out some serious shortcomings. Questions regarding compliance with international standards, technical requirements, the need for deep modernization, as well as the lack of a full production and service cycle, including not only assembly but also further maintenance, guarantees, and infrastructure, became the main problems,” he noted.
“After careful analysis, it became clear that significant additional investments would be needed to eliminate these shortcomings, which exceed our initial estimates. The investments made in the first stage have already been used, and continuing the project under current conditions turned out to be economically unfeasible. This became the reason for the temporary suspension of the project,” Dyusheev added.
He also emphasized that neither the president nor any state institutions had taken on legal or financial obligations for the purchase of BELES buses. Claims of “unfulfilled promises” from the state are not true, and even if a state order had been placed, the company would not currently be able to ensure the production and maintenance of buses in accordance with existing technical and service standards.
“We approached this assessment consciously, so as not to mislead either the state or the public. Currently, we, as founders, are considering various options for modernizing the project, improving its parameters, and bringing it to the necessary standards, after which further decisions will be made,” he concluded.
The BELES project is not closed—it is in a stage of rethinking and analysis. We believe it is important to discuss this openly and professionally, without politicization and distortion of facts,” Dyusheev added.
