The Karatash-Japyrik reserve represents an important ecosystem of the central mountains of Kyrgyzstan. It is home to species such as argali, ibex, mountain goat, maral, and roe deer, as well as predators including wolves, snow leopards, and lynxes. Additionally, this reserve is famous for its diversity of birds, including the bar-headed goose, black stork, demoiselle crane, and golden eagle.
