The largest sapphire in the world was found in Sri Lanka - 3,563 carats
In Sri Lanka, a unique violet star sapphire weighing 3,563 carats has been unveiled. Experts estimate its value at no less than $300 million, according to the Associated Press.
This sapphire, named "Star of Pure Land," is the largest registered natural violet star sapphire in the world.

Gemologist Ashan Amarasinghe noted that the stone exhibits outstanding asterism with a six-rayed effect, making it truly unique among other gemstones.

The precious stone was found in 2023 in the vicinity of the city of Ratnapura in southwestern Sri Lanka and is currently owned by the Star of Pure Land team, whose members have chosen to remain anonymous for safety reasons.
