The satellite is being developed in China
According to the STAR.VISION website, the new hyperspectral satellite will be named "Samarqand-2028," symbolizing the planned International Astronautical Congress to be held in Samarkand in 2028.
Previously, Uzbekkosmos and STAR.VISION signed a memorandum of strategic partnership in the field of satellite technologies and space applications.
As part of this collaboration, Uzbek specialists will develop an artificial intelligence module for this satellite, which will be designed to process hyperspectral data necessary for monitoring land use, agriculture, ecology, and air quality.
