Actress Marianna Spivak posted an open letter on Instagram, signed by graduates of the Moscow Art Theatre School, requesting Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova to reconsider the decision to appoint Konstantin Bogomolov as acting rector. This appeal was also supported by Yulia Menshova and actor Anton Shagin, who published similar letters on their social media, as reported by RBC.

In their letter, the authors emphasize that historically, the process of selecting a rector at the Moscow Art Theatre has been carried out "by the entire MKhAT community," based on continuity. They believe that the appointment of Bogomolov violates the established traditions that have been present in the school since its founding. The appeal highlights that continuity includes not only management but also "the careful preservation of ethical principles and traditions of Russian psychological theater."

The letter also notes that all previous leaders, such as Oleg Efremov, Oleg Tabakov, Anatoly Smelyansky, and Igor Zolotovitsky, were "rooted MKhAT members," which contributed to the preservation of the unique spiritual space and traditions of the educational institution. "A successor can only be someone who has gone through the school under MKhAT teachers," the text of the appeal states.

The authors of the letter remind that the tradition of open selection of the rector is an important part of the legacy of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko School. They warn that violating this practice could lead to a "break in continuity and decline" of the school.

In conclusion, the graduates expressed hope that the Minister of Culture would take the community's opinion into account and consider candidates who have a certain connection to the Moscow Art Theatre School and align with the ethical principles of its founders.

RBC sent a request to the press service of the Ministry of Culture regarding the possible reconsideration of the appointment and the possibility of voting for a candidate for the position of rector.

It is known that on January 23, Olga Lyubimova announced the appointment of Konstantin Bogomolov as acting rector of the Moscow Art Theatre School following the death of Igor Zolotovitsky, who had headed the institution for ten years.

Bogomolov himself thanked the authorities of Moscow for their support of the theater and expressed confidence that he would continue his work at the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya.
