According to a recent study published by the British publication The Economist, Donald Trump's popularity as President of the United States during his second term has reached a new record low. A poll conducted by YouGov showed that only 38 percent of citizens approve of his performance, while 56 percent express their dissatisfaction.

Thus, the gap between Trump's supporters and opponents stands at 18 percentage points, which has significantly worsened compared to the beginning of his second term when the difference was only 2 percent.

The authors of the study also note negative changes in public opinion. On the 378th day of Trump's presidency, only 31 percent of Americans believe the country is heading in the right direction, which is 6 percent lower than in previous months. At the same time, the number of those who think the U.S. is moving in the wrong direction has increased to 60 percent, rising by 10 points.

Particular attention is drawn to the sharp decline in support for Trump among independent voters—a crucial electoral group. His approval rating in this category has fallen to a historically low level throughout his second term.

Analysts link the president's declining ratings to citizens' dissatisfaction with the fulfillment of two key campaign promises: controlling inflation and combating illegal immigration.

The majority of respondents believe that the Trump administration has not achieved significant success in either of these areas.

Additionally, public opinion is influenced by the foreign policy situation. According to various polls, nearly half of Americans view the White House's actions in international security negatively, including its approach to the conflict in Ukraine.

Experts warn that the high level of dissatisfaction among the population in the early stages of the second term may hinder the implementation of presidential initiatives and strengthen the opposition's position in Congress ahead of the midterm elections.
