A recent survey conducted by 24.kg gathered the opinions of residents of the city of Osh regarding the initiative of former Health Minister Erkin Checheybaev to impose restrictions on the sale of alcoholic beverages after 10 PM.

The majority of respondents expressed support for the new rule, believing that it could enhance safety in the city. At the same time, some residents voiced concerns that this restriction would lead to an increase in illegal alcohol trade.

“Although I do not consume alcohol myself, I believe that this restriction may contribute to the growth of illegal alcohol sales,” said one of the respondents.

Other survey participants, on the contrary, noted that the ban would not affect them. “I drink myself, but it won’t be difficult for me to buy alcohol in advance,” shared one of them.

One woman emphasized: “I am against the sale of alcohol and cigarettes, as even schoolchildren are smoking and drinking now.”

It is worth noting that the former Health Minister proposed not only to limit the time for alcohol sales but also to increase taxes on it. Interestingly, Checheybaev was dismissed from his position on December 1.
