In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, journalists from 24.kg conducted a survey among residents to find out their attitudes towards energy-saving initiatives and temporary power outages. The results of the survey showed a variety of opinions; however, most residents approached the measures with understanding.
Some respondents are confident that energy conservation is truly necessary in the current situation.
We believe this is a reasonable decision. Electricity is extremely important. In the current conditions, measures for conservation must be taken.

Other survey participants expressed the opinion that such measures are a forced necessity.
“The population must come to terms with such measures. This is necessary for the good of all Kyrgyzstan,” noted one of the respondents.
Some residents support the proposed measures but also acknowledge that they face everyday inconveniences.
“I feel neutral about this. However, it creates problems at home. I want to boil water, heat food, start the washing machine — and there’s no electricity,” complained one of the Bishkek residents.
Despite the differences in opinions, most survey participants emphasize that it is important for such measures to be well thought out, temporary, and not to affect the most vulnerable groups of the population.
The residents of Bishkek are ready to support energy-saving initiatives if they help overcome difficult times. Most of them believe that the government will be able to cope with the current challenges and that everything will soon be back to normal.
