“There is clearly corruption present here”
Bakyt Baketaev, a well-known public figure and former head of the National Anti-Corruption Agency, claims that gas stations in Bishkek often underfill gasoline.
“Underfilling is a fact. Most drivers would agree with me. If this happened in small amounts and the gas stations used the funds for social needs, such as building stadiums or schools, it would be acceptable. But there are gas stations that deliberately deceive customers and do not contribute to society or the state. Why aren’t our agencies taking action? There are numerous complaints about underfilling and fuel quality. There is clearly corruption present here,” Baketaev noted in an interview with Vesti.kg.
It should be noted that there is a rise in prices for fuel and lubricants in Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, due to the repair of the oil refinery in Russia, which is the main supplier of fuel and lubricants, some gas stations in Bishkek and the Batken region have started to limit fuel sales.
