What to replace bread and potatoes with, which Minister of Health Erkin Checheybaev urged to refuse?

The minister also recommended that Kyrgyz citizens reduce their food intake.

Nutrition expert Daniyar Derkembaev commented on the advice of Minister of Health Erkin Checheybaev that citizens should refuse bread, potatoes, sugar, salt, sweet drinks, and other "harmful" products. In his opinion, switching to vegetables and whole grains can be a good alternative, as they are more affordable than meat and fish.

“Reducing carbohydrates in the diet is a healthy practice. Although I cannot say what to do for those who cannot afford expensive products, even a person on a limited budget can refuse sugar and pastries,” he noted.

Erkin Checheybaev also urged Kyrgyz citizens to reduce the amount of food they consume. He shared his experience, noting that he has not eaten bread for 15 years, preferring coffee in the morning, one egg at 11:00, and a little meat and vegetables in the evening.

However, prices for meat, fish, and vegetables have significantly increased in the market, which has drawn criticism towards the minister. Many Kyrgyz citizens believe that bread, potatoes, sugar, and salt, as well as sweet and national drinks, are the most accessible and essential products for people with low incomes. The minister's idea of eating less has also caused dissatisfaction among the public.
