In Thailand, the fifty-year ban on alcohol sales during the day has been lifted

The government of the country has allowed the sale of alcohol from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, which is a significant step towards easing outdated regulations. It is expected that restaurants can anticipate an increase in revenue of at least 20%.

The ban was introduced in 1972 by the Revolutionary Committee to protect civil servants from consuming alcoholic beverages during working hours. Since then, the socio-economic situation has changed dramatically: Thailand has become a popular tourist destination, and restaurants have taken on an important role in the service sector, catering to various groups of travelers.

Until now, strict restrictions had caused dissatisfaction among tourists and led to negative reviews in international media, which, in turn, deterred some visitors during the high season and made them choose countries that are more welcoming to tourists.
