The number of flood victims in Southeast Asia has reached 321 people
According to the head of the Indonesian disaster mitigation agency, Sukhyanto, there have been 174 confirmed fatalities on the island of Sumatra, which has been the hardest hit. He also noted that, despite the cessation of rains, 79 people remain missing, and thousands of families have been forced to leave their homes.
The cyclone, which caused heavy rains across large areas of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, also led to a rare tropical storm in the Strait of Malacca over the past week.
Additionally, the Thai government reported 145 deaths in eight southern provinces, adding that the floods have affected more than 3.5 million people.
