Local media report that more than 60,000 people have been forced to leave their homes, while around a million are without electricity. Significant damage has affected roads, and many sections of highways are closed. For rescue operations, the Ministry of Defense has deployed helicopters, and authorities have sent military personnel and police for the mass evacuation of residents from dangerous areas.

The water level in rivers has reached 1.5 meters, exceeding the record levels of 1993. The rains continue unabated.

Among the affected areas, the Khanh Hoa province stands out, home to the famous resort of Nha Trang, popular with Russians. According to the Russian Association of Tour Operators, there are currently few tourists here, as the winter period is considered the low season. Most travel companies have not received complaints; however, one reported that several vacationers faced difficulties returning to hotels due to closed roads and requested assistance.

According to data from the national statistical office, this year natural disasters in Vietnam have claimed the lives of 279 people and caused damage of over 2 billion dollars. Scientists link the increase in extreme weather events to global warming: a rise in ocean temperature of just 1 degree intensifies storm activity and increases precipitation.
