Powerful typhoon 'Fung-Wong' hits the Philippines: about a million evacuated
A powerful super typhoon "Fung-Wong" has struck the Philippines, sources including Reuters report.

According to the agency, about a million people from various regions of the country have been forced to leave their homes in search of safe places. Due to the bad weather, many flights have been canceled, educational institutions and workplaces have been temporarily closed, and power outages have occurred in some areas.

Moreover, the Philippines have not yet fully recovered from the aftermath of the previous typhoon "Kalmaegi," which resulted in the deaths of 224 people.

The wind speed of "Fung-Wong" reaches 185 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 230 kilometers per hour. The hurricane knocks people off their feet, uproots trees, destroys homes, and sweeps away bridges.

Residents are hastily leaving their homes and moving to higher ground. In the southeast of Luzon Island, particularly in Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur, the fifth level of storm warning has been declared — the highest level. In the Manila metropolitan area and its surroundings, the third level of threat has been established.
