Storm 'Melissa', dubbed the storm of the century, is intensifying, with wind speeds reaching nearly 300 km/h. After striking Jamaica, the storm continues its path towards Cuba, as reported by the Jibek Joly channel, citing information from Kazinform.
As a result of the destructive aftermath, over 500,000 residents are left without electricity. The storm has uprooted trees, torn roofs off houses, and flooded roads, which have turned into raging rivers.
“Officials noted that the island's infrastructure was not prepared for such a powerful storm. Moreover, in some areas, local residents were warned about the possible appearance of crocodiles, which may leave their usual habitats and enter populated areas,” the report from the channel states.
