On December 3, a meeting took place at the "Yntymak Ordo" center between Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov, Hugh Riddell, head of the World Bank office in Kyrgyzstan, and Mohini Kakkar, senior health specialist leading the working group responsible for implementing the Primary Health Care Quality Improvement Program.

As reported by the government press service, the discussion focused on the interim results of the program, as well as plans to expand its coverage and enhance its effectiveness and sustainability.

The meeting participants emphasized the importance of developing human resources, engaging the private sector, and measures to protect children's health, including potential regulation of the sale of high-sugar beverages.

Baisalov highlighted that President Sadyr Japarov approved the National Development Program until 2030, in which a key aspect is the development of human capital.

“We expect healthcare spending to increase more than fivefold in the coming years. Next year, a significant salary increase for healthcare workers is planned, as well as unprecedented state investments in creating modern medical infrastructure both in Bishkek and in other regions,” he noted.

Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister announced the appointment of a new Minister of Health, who will be responsible for implementing radical changes and improving the effectiveness of the state approach in healthcare.

Representatives of the World Bank confirmed their readiness to provide both expert and financial support for reforms aimed at developing primary healthcare, improving human resources, and enhancing the overall resilience of the healthcare system.
