Recently, a round table was held in Bishkek, where the results of the collaboration between the Kyrgyz Alliance of Midwives and the project "Improving Maternal and Child Health in Central Asia," implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in partnership with the Ministry of Health, were discussed. This was reported by the ministry's press service.

The goal of the project is to improve the quality of medical services for pregnant women, mothers, and newborns at the primary healthcare level (PHC), as well as to develop the leadership potential of midwives as key specialists in the field of reproductive health.

According to the Ministry of Health, significant progress has been achieved during the implementation of the project in Kyrgyzstan. The role of the professional community of midwives has been successfully strengthened, a sustainable network of leadership and mentorship has been created, which has contributed to the development of management skills and the promotion of the principle of respectful treatment of women. Training sessions have also been conducted for primary healthcare specialists, during which they mastered modern practical tools for implementing respectful maternity care and improving the quality of services.

Digitalization of clinical practice has become an important aspect of cooperation. As part of the project, a mobile application "Safe Births" was implemented in Kyrgyzstan, which provides healthcare workers with a convenient decision-making tool at all stages—from pregnancy to the postpartum period.

Venera Adylbaeva, Vice-Rector for Educational and Medical Work at KGMI and PK, noted: "As part of the collaboration with GIZ, our institute's instructors underwent training in the programs 'Women's Leadership,' 'Respectful Care for Women,' and the use of the mobile application 'Safe Births.' This allowed us to update the curricula with modern approaches and significantly improve the training of medical personnel."
