According to information from the akimat, this issue was discussed on February 12 at a meeting with local residents, where it received approval. Taking into account the suggestions and opinions of citizens, preparations for landscaping activities have begun. The main discussions focused on creating modern and comfortable conditions for tourists, which includes expanding the parking area, constructing a sanitary unit that meets modern requirements, as well as ensuring safety in the area.
Local residents used water from this mountain spring during the Soviet era. In the early 2000s, the director of the State Natural National Park "Chon-Kemin," Asankul Akayev, brother of former president Askar Akayev, fenced off the area and organized a toilet and parking for cars.
The "Altyn-Bulak" spring is located at the 20th kilometer of the Kemin—Chon-Kemin highway, on the northern bank of the Chon-Kemin River, near the roadside in the Kapchygai gorge.
The Chon-Kemin Valley is widely known among local residents as "Altyn-Choychok" [“Altyn-Choychok”], and that is why this spring is named "Altyn-Bulak." Unfortunately, there is no official data on the origin of the name, but this place is natural.
In the 1950s, when the highway was built, a wall was erected at the water outlet, and the water was diverted through a pipe. In the 1990s, a stop for transport was also arranged here, including a camping site and toilet, while the spring was moved 10 meters to the west.
In 2021, the public association "Shabdan Zhashtar Komu" carried out repair and improvement work, installing solar lamps for night lighting.
The administration of the Kemin district noted that "Altyn-Bulak" has become a popular resting place for travelers, so the work plan for 2026 includes major repair and construction work for the comprehensive renovation of the area around the spring. The project will be financed through the development fund.
