Throughout these years, reporters, editors, and media managers have trained here, who today work in various fields. In honor of the anniversary, we asked former employees to share their memories of what they learned at 24.kg.
Aida Jumashova, journalist at Sputnik Kyrgyzstan:

— For me, 24.kg became a real school of journalism, where I gained unique experience under the guidance of Asel Otorbaeva. Here I learned to write, find and verify information, as well as build relationships with respondents.
The year 2019, specifically August, was particularly memorable for me.

At that time, significant political events unfolded in the country related to former president Almazbek Atambayev, against whom a criminal case was initiated. I had just returned from vacation when editor Anna Timofeenko sent me to Koi-Tash to Atambayev's house. She jokingly mentioned the possibility of his arrest, and I didn't think much of it as I set off.
Together with a colleague from AKIpress, we awaited Atambayev's exit, who gave comments every evening. Soon after he came out, special forces burst into the yard, gunfire erupted, and I was shot in the leg.
After some time, another editor, Makhinur Niyazova, saved us by leading us out of the dangerous situation.
Working at 24.kg became not just a stage in my career, but a real school of responsibility and courage in the profession.

I wish 24.kg further growth and a strong team, interesting materials, and inspiration for journalists!
Bolot Kolbaev, journalist at a regional publication:

— I started my career at 24.kg right after university. Just 2-3 days of rest, and I plunged into a profession that became my destiny.
For a year and a half, I was supported by strict mentors and responsive colleagues. I quickly mastered the secrets of the profession, which gave me an advantage when looking for work at other publications.
During my time at 24.kg, I witnessed both the successes of athletes and the collapse of power in 2010, victorious elections, and the sorrow of mothers of the victims of the Osh events.
This experience showed me how one can instill hope or, conversely, evoke despair with their writing.
Bolot Kolbaev
But the main thing I learned is the immense responsibility of journalism.
Happy anniversary, 24.kg! I wish prosperity and a loyal readership!
Daniyar Karimov, editor at the Central Asian representative office of "Rossiskaya Gazeta":

— My experience working at 24.kg was the brightest stage in my career. I was part of a unique creative atmosphere that contributed to my rapid development.
At 24.kg, I found ideals to emulate in creativity and responsiveness. I am grateful to Asel Ernestovna for her support and to all the colleagues who were there during difficult and joyful moments.
I was lucky to be part of the agency at its inception, when we were on an interesting and unforgettable journey.
Daniyar Karimov
I am proud to have helped 24.kg become a well-known brand in the country. The experience taught me to appreciate every detail and see the uniqueness in every moment.
Shavkat Turgaev, journalist and presenter at the "Current Time" channel:

— I came to 24.kg because it was one of the best agencies in Kyrgyzstan. Asel Ernestovna welcomed me warmly, and I was happy to work with talented colleagues.
Working in the editorial office was intense, with many meetings. I remember October 3, 2012, when I witnessed events related to Kamchybek Tashiev.
The memory of those two years spent at 24.kg is filled with interesting events and colleagues to whom I am very grateful. Congratulations to my beloved editorial team on the anniversary!
Jazgul Masalieva, press secretary of the Ombudsman of the KR:

— I started working at 24.kg in 2006, when the agency had just opened. At that time, I submitted my resume but was not experienced enough for the Russian-speaking editorial office.
In 2012, I returned and began writing in Russian. 24.kg gave me the opportunity to develop as a journalist, working under the guidance of the best editors in the country.
I learned the importance of timeliness and exclusivity in materials, understanding that each text can provoke an immediate reaction from the authorities and society.
We were able to convey the voice of the people to the authorities, which is the mission of a journalist.
Jazgul Masalieva
We covered important events, including the pandemic and military conflicts, which required us to work around the clock. I remember publishing a video of residents of Leilek leaving their homes, which received wide resonance.
Yulia Lipovich, translator:

— I came to 24.kg in 2006 as a translator and gained a lot of experience. The agency taught me the standards of quality journalism and the responsibility of words.
I am grateful to 24.kg for the opportunity to grow and learn from a strong team.
Yulia Lipovich
Happy anniversary! I wish the agency further prosperity and independence, as well as many bright projects and talented journalists!
