In the Ak-Talinsky district of the Naryn region, projects are being developed to protect the irrigation canal, as 300 hectares of agricultural land are under threat.

According to reports, the leadership of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has been informed about the critical situation along the banks of the Naryn River, which threatens arable lands in the region.

During a visit on March 1, Minister Urmatbek Shamyrkanov, according to the head of the district emergency department Tashatbek Mokeev, assessed the areas suffering from erosion. He paid special attention to the village of Togolok Moldo, where the Naryn River is actively eroding the lands of local farmers, creating a risk for their crops. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also visited the bed of Shyrdakbek-Saya, which runs through the village of Cholok-Kayin in the Ala-Buga ayil district.

After the inspection, the minister instructed local authorities and relevant institutions to urgently develop projects for bank reinforcement measures. In the village of Bayetov, he also familiarized himself with the construction process of a new building for the district fire service.

Earlier, local residents appealed to the authorities through Turmush pointing out the shifting of the Naryn River's bed towards the right bank, which has already led to the destruction of several hectares of arable land. Additionally, the only irrigation canal that supplies water to hundreds of hectares of agricultural land is also at risk of destruction.

According to the district emergency department, on the southern side of the village of Kara-Oy (formerly Togolok Moldo), erosion has caused the bank to collapse by 450–500 meters in the areas of Chekendi-Talaa and Kyzyl-Emgek. Eleven hectares of arable land have been affected, with 8.6 hectares already completely washed away by water. Currently, the threat to another 50–60 hectares remains. The distance from the water's edge to the irrigation canal "Naryn," which provides irrigation water to 250–300 hectares, has decreased to 15–18 meters. The processes of bank erosion have significantly intensified in 2023–2024.
