The life of Erbol Zheentaev, an energetic and optimistic young man, changed dramatically in 2014. At a wedding, due to a misunderstanding, a conflict arose that escalated into a fight, resulting in a serious traumatic brain injury. As a result, Erbol ended up in a hospital bed.

Three months in a coma: the aftermath of the wedding

At first, no one realized the seriousness of the injury, even overlooking the hematoma on his head. However, in the hospital, he suffered from brain swelling, and Erbol underwent his first surgery. The morning after the operation, a rebleeding occurred, necessitating a second surgery. After that, Erbol fell into a coma for three months.

This period became a true test for his family. While his wife gave birth to their second son, Erbol fought for his life.

“I saw people around me, but I couldn't speak. Perhaps I was speaking inside myself, but I couldn't utter a word,” he recalls.

Returning to life: the first steps to recovery

After being discharged, Erbol faced new challenges. He spent a year and a half completely immobile, dependent on his family. His mother, brother, and friends provided him with constant support.

One of the most difficult moments for him was wearing a diaper. Erbol couldn't come to terms with this situation.

“I set a goal for myself: if I can get rid of the diaper, then I can achieve more,” he says.

Recovery began with small steps. Erbol learned to move by leaning on furniture and family members. What is a simple task for most people became a true triumph for him — the steps toward recovery brought incredible happiness.

His children became his main motivation. “I didn't want them to see me helpless. I didn't want my loved ones to cry,” Erbol shares.

Despite the tears, he hid his feelings and made a promise to himself: life should not end at 26.

During this time, he went through a divorce. Later, in 2018, he tried to reconcile with his ex-wife, suggesting they start over, but she refused. This realization pushed Erbol to think that he needed to get back on his feet for himself and his children.

His friends supported him, and one day a close friend, Bektur, brought him shawarma. At that moment, this simple gesture reminded Erbol of life when he could eat whatever he wanted. At that time, he was being fed through a tube, receiving food in liquid form.

This moment became a turning point for his recovery: he decided that he wanted to chew again and enjoy the taste of food. Gradually, the tube was removed, and he set a new goal for himself — to recover through discipline and proper nutrition.

New love and wedding

Soon, a new love entered Erbol's life. He recalls how they walked around Bishkek, and his legs, which had previously troubled him, began to work painlessly.

“It was like first love. Spring, you can't sleep, you think about her,” Erbol shares his memories.

The wedding took place in November 2025.

Coaching career: how Erbol became a mentor against all odds

Becoming a coach was not a dream for Erbol, but life led him down this path. Recovery began with lifting 2-kilogram dumbbells, even though doctors had forbidden him from working out in the gym. Nevertheless, he continued to train, constantly consulting with doctors and studying recovery methods.

He always keeps in touch with the doctors he trusts, including his therapist and other specialists.

“I became resilient. If something happens, I immediately consult the doctors. They know anatomy better than I do,” Erbol says.

Every year, he undergoes preventive treatment to maintain stable health.

Although the effects of the injury are still felt — sometimes he forgets small things and doesn't always recognize acquaintances by their voice. Therefore, he records important information and supports his memory with medications and vitamins.
Erbol's training began through pain and difficulties
For the past six years, Erbol has been working in one of the gyms in Bishkek. He is not just a trainer but an inspiring mentor, whom people come to not only for physical fitness but also for psychological support.

“Sometimes I talk to my students in a way that makes them cry because I understand their emotional struggles,” he says.

People seek out Erbol to train with him because he is not just a theorist but a person who has overcome a difficult path. His philosophy is simple: “If a ball is just sitting still, it needs to be pushed to roll. The same goes for a person: you can't stop, you have to move forward.”

Erbol's approach is based on quality, gradual progress, and discipline. He does not promise miracles but teaches what truly works: discipline, nutrition control, limitations on sweets, and proper physical loads.

“I can provide motivation, but you have to build discipline yourself. No one can raise you if you don't raise yourself,” he emphasizes.

Faith and achievements: how Erbol strengthened his spirituality

Faith holds a special place in Erbol's life. He asserts that Allah has always been first for him and “showed the way.” In 2025, he took his mother on Umrah, which he considers one of the greatest achievements of his life.

Today, Erbol lives a full life: he trains, helps people, actively interacts with his children, and maintains connections with his family. He believes that goals should constantly grow, and movement should never stop.

The main conclusion he has drawn from his experience: true strength is not manifested when things are easy, but when it seems impossible to rise, yet you continue to move forward.
