On March 16, a presentation of methodological manuals titled "First Steps to Financial Literacy" and "Responsible Consumption" took place at the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic. This was reported by the Ministry of Education of the KR.

Representatives of educational institutions, international organizations, as well as experts and methodologists attended the event.

These educational materials were developed in collaboration with UNESCO, the Kyrgyz Academy of Education, and the Ministry of Education. Their goal is to help students develop skills in financial literacy, conscious consumption, and responsible decision-making.

The Deputy Minister of Education of the KR, Nadira Jusupbekova, emphasized at the opening of the meeting that the work on the manuals had been ongoing for several years. She noted that these methodological materials will become a significant tool for educators and textbook authors, allowing for the integration of financial literacy into educational programs.

Nurbek Tileshaliev, an education specialist from the UNESCO regional office in Almaty, stated that the manuals were created as part of the global initiative "Education for Sustainable Development." He noted that Kyrgyzstan actively participates in international educational initiatives and is one of the Central Asian countries implementing a systematic approach to developing competencies in sustainable development in education.

During the presentation, the authors of the manual "First Steps to Financial Literacy" presented its content, which is aimed at elementary school students. It was discussed that financial literacy is not highlighted as a separate subject in the early grades, so topics related to money management and conscious consumption will be integrated into existing subjects.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the prospects for expanding educational materials and their implementation in the school system. Plans include providing access to electronic versions of the manuals for schools, teachers, and parents.

The new materials are aimed at developing the necessary 21st-century skills in students, including financial and media literacy, responsible resource management, and building competencies in sustainable development.
