The report presents a detailed analysis of the levels of fine particulate matter PM2.5 in Bishkek and Osh, as well as recommendations for improving the environmental situation.
According to the findings of the document, the level of air pollution has a pronounced seasonal character, particularly intensifying during the winter months.
- In Bishkek, about 120 days were recorded with exceedances of permissible norms, with the highest pollution recorded on December 24, 2024, when levels exceeded government standards by more than 11 times.
- In Osh, the situation is more critical: out of 336 days, 159 days were recorded with exceedances of norms. Pollution is observed throughout the year, with the annual average concentration reaching approximately 74 µg/m³, which is nearly 5 times higher than state standards and 15 times higher than WHO recommendations.
To address this issue, MoveGreen proposes to develop alternative energy, implement clean public transport, increase urban greening, and expand the monitoring system with public access to data.
