After her release, Makhabat expressed gratitude to everyone who supported her over the two years.
“For two years I felt lonely, as if I had been abandoned. However, thanks to the support of people and international organizations, as well as friends from countries like England, Canada, France, and Estonia, I was able to endure this. First of all, this is due to the grace of God,” she shared.
The journalist also confirmed her intentions to continue her work: “For two years we have been conducting investigations in Kyrgyzstan. Now we have plans to move forward, possibly including international investigations.”
Makhabat Tajibek kyzy added that she wants to meet with her family, loved ones, and her team soon.
“I am grateful to everyone who provided assistance, even the smallest. Thank you all,” she noted.
We remind you that earlier the Lenin District Court of Bishkek changed the measure of restraint for Makhabat and released her from custody; however, the court denied other requests, including the termination of the criminal case.
The case will now be reconsidered after the Supreme Court overturned the previous verdict.
Makhabat Tajibek kyzy is a well-known journalist and head of the Temirov LIVE project, as well as the wife of investigative journalist Bolot Temirov. Together they worked on anti-corruption investigations that caused a significant public resonance. Earlier, Bolot Temirov was expelled from Kyrgyzstan and stripped of his citizenship.
