Makhabat Tajibek kyzy, a well-known journalist and head of the Temirov LIVE project, will be transferred to a detention center. Lawyer Asel Argymbaeva reported this to the publication 24.kg. According to her, the main task of the defense is to ensure the implementation of decisions by international human rights bodies.

The lawyer emphasized that they plan to insist on the fulfillment of recommendations from international organizations, including the findings of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention. This group previously recognized the arrest of Tajibek kyzy as illegal and demanded her immediate release.

Recently, the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan decided to return the case of Makhabat Tajibek kyzy for reconsideration in the district court.

The judicial panel annulled the decisions of previous instances, and now a new composition of the district court will handle the case.

Makhabat Tajibek kyzy is the wife of investigative journalist Bolot Temirov and heads the media projects Temirov LIVE and "Ait ait dese." Her detention occurred in January 2024 along with other employees of media projects, who were charged with organizing mass riots.

On October 10, 2024, the Lenin District Court of Bishkek sentenced her to six years in prison. Later, the Bishkek City Court upheld this decision, and in February 2025, the Supreme Court left the sentence unchanged.

The defense filed a petition for a review of the case due to new circumstances, which led to the return of the case for new consideration in the district court.

International human rights organizations and representatives of the media community had previously called on the Kyrgyz authorities to reconsider the sentence for the journalist. The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention stated that her detention is illegal and demands its cancellation.

The organization Amnesty International, along with other human rights groups, called for the journalist's release. Director of Amnesty International for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Marie Strazhers noted that the authorities of Kyrgyzstan have a choice — to comply with international human rights obligations or to ignore them.
