The victim's family demands a review of the court's decision in the case of a brutal crime

Zumriyat Rezakhanova, a relative of the deceased, believes that the sentence handed down by the court does not reflect the full severity of the crime and insists on a review of the case regarding the brutal murder of a young mother of four children.

According to her, the tragedy occurred on February 4, 2025, when her husband's niece, a 37-year-old woman, was brutally killed by her husband, Jumadinov Nurlan. He inflicted 12 stab wounds and continued to beat her until the knife broke. Marks of a kick were visible on the victim's face, indicating the intent of the accused's actions.

The murder took place in the morning when the woman was alone milking cows. Relatives believe that Nurlan had premeditated the crime — the day before, he packed a bag and planned his actions.

During the court session, one of the paramedics reported that the crime scene had been thoroughly cleaned, and blood had been removed, which hindered the collection of samples. She also noted that the victim's milk had frozen, indicating that a significant amount of time had passed between the murder and the call to the services.

The family claims that before calling the emergency services, the deceased was dressed in different clothes and placed in a corner of the barn, which, in their opinion, indicates an attempt to conceal evidence.

According to relatives, the conflict arose over a house that was gifted to the deceased by her grandfather for many years of care. The deceased was planning to divorce her husband.

The convicted murderer of his wife has been sentenced to 11 years in prison

Despite the seriousness of the crime, on September 23, 2025, the first-instance court sentenced Nurlan to 11 years in prison, changing the qualification of the charges. This decision shocked relatives and the public, and the prosecutor's office filed an appeal.

Relatives express concerns that the defense may insist on a version of temporary insanity, although an examination recognized him as sane, and the preparation for the crime indicates intent.

The accused's son also testified in court, stating that Nurlan's older brother had previously threatened the deceased, which may indicate premeditation.

The four children of the deceased remain at risk, as, according to relatives, they have been subjected to violence from their father and fear that he may be released and continue to intimidate them. The children were not questioned in court, although they are ready to give their testimony.

The case is currently being reviewed in the Chui Regional Court, and the family fears that the sentence may remain unchanged.

Zumriyat Rezakhanova calls on the authorities, the General Prosecutor's Office, and law enforcement agencies to pay attention to the case, conduct an objective investigation, and ensure just punishment for the guilty party.

“We do not understand why our daughter's life was so devalued. We fear for her children and do not want the murderer to be released too soon,” she stated in her appeal.

The woman notes that the family is undergoing severe moral trials, and one of the daughters could not speak for a long time after the tragedy, and now she herself is asking for help.

Relatives hope that the case will be reviewed and that the guilty party will receive a punishment commensurate with the brutality of the committed crime.
