One hundred years since the birth of the great Bubusara - the story of the country's first ballerina

Memories of the great dancer are filled with epithets such as "Star of Kyrgyz ballet," "A talent given from above," and "Our Bubusara."

Bubusara Beishenalieva was born on September 15, 1926, into a peasant family in the village of Tash-Töbö, located in the Chui region (now the Alamudun district). From childhood, she was a short blue-eyed girl, and the villagers affectionately called her "Gökö" (from "blue-eyed").

At the time when choreographers from Leningrad were searching for gifted children across the republics, they visited a school in Vorontsovka where Bubusara studied. During a discussion with the administration, one of the teachers noticed the girls who were jumping rope. It was then that he noticed little Bubusara, who stood out among her peers. The girl was immediately added to the list of talented children.

Parting with her parents was difficult, but their concern for their daughter's future outweighed it. At the age of ten, Bubusara was sent to Leningrad for her studies. She enrolled in the Leningrad Choreographic School, where her mentor became the famous ballerina Agrippina Vaganova.

Bubusara's memories of that time:

"Leningrad was full of attention and warmth towards me. Experienced teachers generously shared their knowledge with young Kyrgyzstanis. Every achievement of ours brought them genuine joy."

In 1941, Bubusara successfully completed her studies and became a soloist of the Kyrgyz State Opera and Ballet Theater. Her fame grew thanks to her role as Aydai in the ballet "Cholpon" by composer Raukhverger.

In 1948-1949, she studied again in an advanced training class with A. Ya. Vaganova, where she met Ulan Sarbagyshyev, who became her partner for 18 years.

For fans of Kyrgyz theatrical art, performances featuring Bubusara were a celebration. The audience loved her for her unique gift and came to the theater to see her performances. On her way to work, Bubusara was respected, and people greeted her with joy.

Bubusara Beishenalieva made a significant contribution to the creation of the national ballet. Her dances were characterized by naturalness and grace. She performed on the most famous stages in the world and, since 1939, played in productions of "Cholpon" and "Anar." Her repertoire included leading roles in classical ballets such as "Swan Lake," "Sleeping Beauty," "Romeo and Juliet," and many others.

In 1958, her talent was recognized with the title of People's Artist of the USSR, as well as the Order of the Badge of Honor and medals.

Bubusara Beishenalieva passed away on May 10, 1973. In her honor, a street in Bishkek and an arts institute are named after her, and a monument has been erected. The memory of her outstanding contribution to the arts will live on in the hearts of the people forever.
