In 1966, after the final of the all-Union youth tournament, he was invited to the experimental USSR national team preparing for the Olympic Games in Mexico City, where he played alongside stars such as Yevgeny Lovchev and Sergey Olshansky.

On the field, Podkorytov represented the colors of Moscow's "Lokomotiv" and was also the captain of the "Alga" team, which left a significant mark in the history of Kyrgyz football.

After finishing his playing career, Boris Podkorytov became a coach. He trained in Moscow and in 1980 took over "Alga" from Frunze. In his coaching practice, he also worked abroad, particularly in Algeria, where in 1988 he led the team to championship victory.

Upon returning to Kyrgyzstan, he took charge of the "Dordoi-Dynamo" team, with which he achieved significant success, including victories in the national championship and cup. The club's triumphs in the AFC President's Cup in 2006 and 2007 were particularly memorable.
