Nine-year-old Amina Shergalieva won the Kyrgyzstan Chess Championship among schoolchildren.

The young chess player from the Kochkor district of Naryn region, Amina Shergalieva, won a gold medal at the Kyrgyzstan Chess Championship for schoolchildren and received a ticket to the Asian Championship.

According to reports, the championship took place in Bishkek from March 20 to 26, 2026. More than 300 of the strongest young chess players from across the country participated. In the girls' category under 9 years old, victory was claimed by nine-year-old Amina Shergalieva from Kochkor. This victory allowed the athlete to earn the right to compete in the upcoming Asian Championship.

Amina Shergalieva was born on March 6, 2017. She showed an interest in chess at the age of two. Currently, the girl is in the 3rd grade at a private school in Bishkek. In the future, she dreams of becoming a world chess champion. Amina has already repeatedly won international tournaments.

Amina's father, Nurlan Shergaliev, is a chess champion of Asia. According to him, the family actively supports their daughter's sports career. Nurlan Shergaliev also mentioned that the national chess team of Kyrgyzstan participated in a tournament in Novokuznetsk (Kuzbass, Russia) in February 2026 (from February 16 to 22). Teams from 42 countries participated in the competition, and the Kyrgyz team took 7th place.



As Nurlan Shergaliev says, a particularly memorable moment was when Amina Shergalieva drew with international grandmaster Georgy Castaneda during a simultaneous exhibition, surprising many participants.

The grandmaster noted that a great future and many successes await Amina. "To this day, we have visited 28 countries and participated in various international competitions. We financed all the tournaments ourselves, at our own expense. We hope that in the future the state will support us," Nurlan Shergaliev reported.
