Deputy Dastan Bekeshev has once again initiated a discussion on the licensing of taxi services.

At the meeting on January 28, he noted that mandatory licensing is set to come into effect in three days, on February 1, but to date, only 7,500 out of 70,000 working in the taxi sector in Bishkek have received permits.

Bekeshev warned that if the deadlines are not extended, it will lead to an increase in taxi prices and a rise in unemployment in this sector.

He also addressed the issue of the closure of private driving schools: "It's good that the schools are closed, but the property is not being returned. For example, the 'DOSAAF' school is closed, but other businesses, including sewing companies, continue to operate in its building. We have repeatedly raised this issue, but we are not being heard. Driving training lasts for 10 months, which is too long. It is also necessary to resolve the issue of cars with Russian license plates that have been in impound lots for several months. Either an amnesty is needed, or other measures. All these problems will negatively impact the business," the deputy added, suggesting that the raised issues be considered in the transport committee.

In response, the committee chairman Kubanychbek Kongantiev proposed creating a commission to address these issues.
