In the Jalal-Abad region, the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Talaybek Ibraev, conducted a working trip today, during which the reconstructed fourth hydro unit of the Toktogul HPP and the second unit of the Uch-Kurgan HPP were put into operation.
The event was also attended by the representative of the region, Tilek Tekebaev, the General Director of the OJSC "Electric Stations," Alpbek Sadyrov, and the project manager for the reconstruction of the Toktogul HPP, Sergey Sakhovsky, as reported by the press service of the ministry.
The modernization work on the fourth unit of the Toktogul HPP has been successfully completed and constitutes 100%.
After the reconstruction, the capacity of the station increased from 1200 MW to 1440 MW, which was the main goal of the upgrade.
In addition, as part of the modernization program for hydropower facilities, the reconstruction of the second unit of the Uch-Kurgan HPP has been completed.
It is worth noting that the upgrade work began in 2024 when the first hydro unit was completely replaced, increasing its capacity by 9 MW. The modernization of the second unit has also been completed with an additional 9 MW. The reconstruction of the remaining two units is planned for 2026, and upon its completion, the total capacity of the station will increase by 36 MW.
