In 2025, modernization was carried out in Bishkek, resulting in a significant increase in the capacity of five substations located in densely populated areas.

The specific changes are as follows:
- Substation 110/10 kV "Kok-Zhar" — transformer replaced from 25 MVA to 40 MVA;
- Substation 110/10 kV "Orto-Alysh" — also replaced transformer from 25 MVA to 40 MVA;
- Substation 110/10 kV "Altyn-Kazyk" — transformer capacity increased from 16 MVA to 25 MVA;
- Substation 110/10 kV "Berlik" — similarly, from 16 MVA to 25 MVA;
- Substation 110/10 kV "Vodokanal" — transformer with a capacity of 6.3 MVA replaced with 16 MVA;

Thus, the total increase in capacity at all five substations amounted to 146 MVA, which will allow residents of the city to be provided with quality electricity. Additionally, by the end of the current year, it is planned to increase the capacity of two more substations.

These modernization works are being carried out as part of an agreement between the Ministry of Energy and the World Bank.

"The main goal of these activities is to successfully pass the autumn-winter season, as well as to ensure reliable power supply for the capital's population and improve service quality," the official statement says.
