The Minister of Energy became acquainted with the reconstruction of the fourth hydro unit of the Toktogul HPP, as well as with the modernization work on the second hydro unit of the Uch-Kurgan HPP, where equipment testing is also being conducted.
The reconstruction of the fourth hydro unit has been completed, and testing is currently underway. The main objective of these activities is to extend the operational life of the station and increase its capacity. The modernization of the second hydro unit of the Uch-Kurgan HPP, which began in 2024 when the first hydro unit was updated, has also been successfully completed, allowing for an increase in capacity by 9 MW. Recently, the modernization of the second unit was completed, adding another 9 MW. In 2026, the remaining two units are planned to be updated, which will ultimately increase the total capacity of the HPP by 36 MW.
After testing, the hydro units of the Toktogul and Uch-Kurgan HPPs will be put into operation. In addition, Ibraev was informed about the operation of the Kara-Kul HPP, which was recently commissioned and has a capacity of 18 MW. The station is operating normally.
